Stephen Shepperson

Stephen Shepperson B.A. (Bus Law) Hons. is Senior Partner and was Admitted in 1979 following his period of Articles with a prominent Firm in Southampton. He then spent just over 3 years with a Brighton-based Firm at their then Steyning office, dealing predominantly with Property matters. A move to Horley in Jan 1983 to open and run a Branch office for the Firm of McLeish & Co of Dorking led to a Partnership with Stuart McLeish the following year. After the sale of the Dorking office Stephen continued to Practice on his own account for a short time until joined in Partnership by Sally Gandon in 1987.

He deals with most areas of Property Law including residential and commercial sales, purchases and leases and also handles other non-contentious matters such as preparing Partnership agreements, advising on agreements for small to medium-sized Businesses and advising on Employment matters.

Due to the contacts established by Stuart McLeish after he left Dorking to work in London for one of the “Big Five”, many of the property clients looked after by Stephen are based in London and abroad: he therefore has considerably more experience in handling London properties than many provincial Solicitors. Several are fellow professionals and some are fairly “high-profile” and many have “high net worth”.

“Outside of the Office”, he has been a School Governor at 2 schools in Horley, committee member of the local Chamber of Commerce , on the committees of the Town Centre Management group and Town Centre regeneration body and member and past chair of the Horley-Vimy Twinning Association. Involvement in Round Table and 41 Club has also been a feature of the last 25 years or so. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of a private school in Caterham.

Music of most genres, cuisine, motoring & classic cars, visiting France and gardening also feature when time allows. He is proud to be a Guinness World Record holder for the quickest drive around the then 12 member states of the EU in 1992 (at legal speeds!) – long before sat-nav was there to work out the route! Funds raised went to a local charity and currently the Firm & he support St Catherine Hospice in Crawley & the local Air Ambulance.
